Winter Solstice

by | Dec 21, 2025

Thank you.

My mom’s dementia. The bag lady (again). Roxie. 400 cookies. Inherited family trauma. Internal Family Systems. A name in stone.

Thank you for being here, for all of it.

My fingers stretched, seeking to feel it, understand it, make sense of it, share it.

Thank you for doing the same in your life, seeking to make sense, make meaning.

What I love about the winter solstice is the truth of it, even when it doesn’t feel like it. The days begin to get measurably longer, even though it still feels dark and cold. The solstice reminds me to hope.

As we begin another trip around the sun, I wish you peace and joy and love that puts a smile on your face and in your heart. I wish you warm blankets and easy laughter, weekend mornings with your favorite breakfasts, special time with friends and loved ones, tender sprouts of fresh dreams and new beginnings, and a steady knowledge that you need not hustle for worthiness. You are enough, you have done enough.

Here’s to love for you and me and all of us.
